Solid. Simple. Versatile.
Being a firm believer in keeping it simple, I like the old large round carbine handguard. But it lacks attatchment capabilities. Wanting only to attach a small light to my carbine, I bought a MFT M44S handguard for that express purpose. Lighter and smoother than the G.I. carbine rail model, it also is more rounded as well. Feels good in the hands. The form-fitting soft rail caps are easily cut to allow access for any additional device you'd want to use. In my case, a short simple light on the left rail right up front. I store the small piece of rail cap cut for the light, in the grip compartment when the light is attached. With the light removed, the small piece is snapped into place for an uninterrupted handguard. Like I said, solid, simple, and versatile. Combined with a MFT Minimalist butt stock and a MFT magazine, my carbine is light and fast handling, yet solid. I wouldn't use any other gear than MFT, as their products are well designed and have proven themselves reliable and functional.
